Our Story
I have always liked a good high quality coffee. But I did not decide to go into the coffee business until 2016 while I was living in Burma. I had been hired by an investment bank to help launch a start up in the tourism business. Challenging and interesting work that led me to travel all over Myanmar. This is where I discovered the most amazing roast, so unique. Grown in the Shan Highlands at 1,500 meters, washed and roasted to the highest international standards.
Arriving back in Copenhagen, my favorite neighborhood coffee shop had closed, so instead of wholesale, I decided to open my very own hole in the wall coffee shop and thus The Nomad & The Bean was born.
with the current political situation being so volatile in Myanmar, I have now sourced my coffee from one plantation in Brazil. Sure, it took some time to find a similar green bean but the Burmese bean was originally a Brazilian plant so I went right to the source! This means we deliver a very high end single origin specialty bean from the Monte Belo farm in Brazil's Minas Gerais area...from one of the oldest plantations in the region, with origins from 1935...
